At Sit With It Therapy, we recognize that relationships are dynamic and complex, and even the strongest partnerships can face challenges. Whether you are experiencing constant arguments, a sense of disconnect, trust issues, or simply feeling that your relationship could be stronger, couples therapy is designed to help. We also provide support for couples deciding to part ways, assisting in navigating the delicate separation process with intention and respect.
WHAT IS COUPLES THERAPY?
Couples therapy offers a supportive space for both partners to engage in meaningful conversations guided by a trained expert. Our therapists utilize Emotion-Focused Therapy techniques, Gottman Method principals, and Psychodynamic insights to improve communication, change interaction patterns, and revitalize relationships.

We focus on the relationship as the client, allowing us to view the dynamics of the partnership objectively. This approach helps us facilitate communication without bias, avoiding blame, and fostering a renewed sense of curiosity about each other.
“The most functional way to regulate difficult emotions in love relationships is to share them.”
- Sue Johnson

Are We Right For Couples Therapy?
There are several reasons people in relationships look to enter therapy, ranging from communication issues to infidelity to navigating next steps in the relationship. It is recommended that couples enter into some form of counseling as soon as any relational distress arises and is often suggested that occasional therapy stints can help couples avoid the issues that bring others into therapy. As with individual therapy, change takes place through insight, understanding, and changed behavior. Each member of the relationship should be prepared to look into their own past, gain insight into their repetitive patterns, look to their personal history, and bring light to the ways those may be affecting the couple.
